- LifeSketch: He was baptised as an adult in the First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia in 1701/2 - PA Gene Mag (PGM) 19:278 1954 His Will proved Oct 22, 1720 Philad. Historical Society - Poor Copy As "Jeremiah Gatchell, wheelwright", he was admitted to the Freedom of the City of Philadelphia, 27 May 1717 - PGM 33:101 (l983). In 1704, Jeremiah is described as: "late of ye County of Essex in ye collony of ye Massachusetts in New Engd but now of ye City of Philadelphia in ye Province of Pennsylvania". Much of the info on Jeremiah and his father John was gotten from an article written by Francis James Dallett entitled "The Inter-Colonial Grimstone Boude and his Family", The Genealogist 2:74-114 (1981), wherein he more or less proves the connection of Elisha to Jeremiah and John. Also, another article he wrote called "Some Additions and Corrections to the Boude Pedigree", The Genealogist 6:2 - Fall 1985. Francis James Dallett, F.A.G.S, F.G.S.P., Mount Carib, Box 6, Taconic, CT 06079. From the book "History of Salem" - (pg 202) "Though Wm. Walton was never ordained to the ministry, he continued to preach to the people of Marblehead until his death in Oct 1668. A meeting house had been built on burying hill, and the usual troubles which arose from seating the people came to the inhabitants. Until a church was organized in 1684, the members of the Salem church who lived in Marblehead attended the services of the church in Salem on days of the sacraments of the Lord's supper and baptism, and on other Sundays were found in the little meeting house amongst the ledges and the graves on the hill. The members of the Salem church who lived in Marblehead in 1684 numbered 54. Jeremiah and Elizabeth obviously owned a tavern in Marblehead, as they were accused of selling rum flip punch and milk punch without a license; however, they then received a license. They may have bonded in 1679 per New England Marriages Prior to 1700
