- LifeSketch: Bernice Katherine Behrent (1919 - 2013) Bernice Katherine Behrent of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the age of 93. She was born November 14, 1919 in Albion, Nebraska to Henry John and Sophia (Kleffner) Miller. She was the third child in a family of five: Leona, Francis, Bernice, Walter and Clarence. Bernice grew up and attended schools in Holyoke, Colorado, graduating from Phillips County High School in 1938. After graduation, she moved to Denver where she worked at the Modification Center and where she met Elmo ("Mo") Behrent. In November of 1944, Bernice and Mo were united in marriage at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Holyoke. Of this marriage, six children were born: Beverly, Kenton, Darrel, Gaylen, Marian and Martin. Bernice and Mo were members of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Active in various groups in the church, Bernice also worked as a cafeteria manager in the Jefferson County School System. Upon retiring their time was spent traveling the United States, including two trips to Alaska, and a trip across Canada and trips to Europe. Many of these trips included visits with their grandchildren. Bernice loved cooking for her family, baking was indeed a specialty. Bernice is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, her parents, all of her siblings, and two granddaughters. Surviving are her children; Beverly of Roslyn, New York; Kenton (Gayle) of Boulder, Colorado; Darrel (Rebecca) of Bozeman, Montana; Gaylen (Cathy) of Commerce City; Marian (Ron) of Brighton; and Marty (Yvette) of Westminster; Twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Rosary and viewing will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Sunday, 4/21/2013 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be also be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 7240 W. 12th Ave., Lakewood, Colorado on Monday, 4/22/2013 at 10:00 am.
